The route

From Seathwaite, we head into the high fells on a classic walking route towards Scafell Pike. The terrain becomes rougher and rockier as we gain height, with the summit giving a real sense of being in the heart of the Lake District mountains.

The route choice will be managed by your guide and may be adjusted depending on weather, visibility, group pace and ground conditions.

This is a rewarding full mountain day and a memorable way to reach England’s highest point.

Meeting point

We meet in Seathwaite, in Borrowdale, close to the start of the mountain route.

Seathwaite is a popular mountain starting point and parking can be busy, especially during weekends and holiday periods. Please allow plenty of time to arrive and park.

Fitness and experience

This is a full mountain day. You should be reasonably fit, able to walk for 6–8 hours, and comfortable moving on rough and rocky mountain paths.

No scrambling experience is required, but the ground can be loose, uneven and tiring underfoot. Good footwear and suitable hill clothing are essential.

The minimum recommended age is 15 when accompanied by a participating adult.

Online bookings close 7 days before departure, so if you are looking to join at shorter notice, please contact us to check availability. Most departures require a minimum of 2 participants to run. Solo walkers are welcome and can often be matched with another booking where availability allows.
