Our Lake District guided walks are designed for people who want to enjoy bigger mountain routes with the support of a qualified and experienced Mountain Leader.
These are full mountain days on well-known Lake District routes. Some include exposed ridges, rough mountain paths and changeable weather, so good planning and careful route choice matter.
Whether you want to experience Striding Edge, take on Sharp Edge, or reach the highest summit in England, we’ll help you make the most of the day safely and confidently.

Three classic Lake District mountain routes, each with its own character and level of challenge.
Helvellyn via Striding Edge
One of the Lake District’s most famous mountain routes. A guided ascent of Helvellyn via Striding Edge, usually returning via Swirral Edge.

These guided walks are suitable for walkers who are reasonably fit and want to experience bigger Lake District routes with professional support.
You do not need to be an expert mountaineer, but you should be comfortable walking for 6–8 hours and moving on rough, uneven mountain paths.
Routes involving Striding Edge or Sharp Edge require a reasonable head for heights and confidence on exposed ground.

FAQs
Common questions about our Lake District guided walks.
Do I need previous scrambling experience?
For Helvellyn and Blencathra, previous scrambling experience is helpful but not always essential. You do need to be confident on rough ground and have a reasonable head for heights.
Are the routes guaranteed?
No mountain route can be guaranteed. Your guide will make decisions based on weather, wind, visibility, ground conditions and group ability.
What happens if the weather is poor?
Your guide will assess the conditions and may adjust the route if required. Safety always comes first, but we will aim to provide the best possible mountain day within the conditions.
Can under-18s join?
Under-18s may be able to join when accompanied by a participating adult. For these routes, the minimum recommended age is 15.
