The UK’s best-kept mountain secret
Ardgour holds some of the most dramatic and least-visited mountain terrain in Scotland. This point-to-point traverse threads hidden glens and jagged gneiss peaks, with constant views over Loch Shiel toward the Atlantic and the Small Isles. We finish by descending into historic Glenfinnan, where wilderness meets the West Highland Line.
Why this route?
While Glencoe and Skye draw the crowds, Ardgour remains a place of profound silence. This Corran-to-Glenfinnan line is a masterclass in West Coast mountaineering — demanding pathless navigation and rewarding you with total immersion.
The finish at Glenfinnan brings a powerful sense of completion — from remote ridges back to the historic rail line for the journey home.

Day 1
The ascent from the sea

Day 2
The jagged interior
⌄
A full day across trackless ridges through the heart of the Ardgour peaks. We aim for a camp with panoramic views over Loch Shiel and out toward the Small Isles.
