A classic Highland glen made for a first expedition

Glen Tilt offers one of the best introductions to guided wild camping in Scotland. The terrain feels properly Highland, the journey has real point-to-point character, and the camp setting gives that sense of being away without needing a highly technical mountain weekend.

This 2-day micro adventure is ideal for people stepping beyond day walks and into their first overnight expedition, with calm leadership, manageable distances and a strong sense of journey from start to finish.

Why Glen Tilt works so well

Glen Tilt has the right balance of access, scale and atmosphere. It feels remote enough to be memorable, but it is still a very approachable place to learn expedition habits, overnight camp craft and the rhythms of travelling well with a loaded pack.

A genuine journey, not just a campout

This trip is about more than sleeping outside for a night. Glen Tilt gives a strong sense of progression through the landscape, with estate tracks, open glen scenery and quieter camp positions that make the experience feel like a real Highland journey.

For many people it is the ideal first step before moving on to bigger 3 to 5 day wilderness trips. You get the satisfaction of carrying your kit, choosing a camp, settling into the evening and waking up in the hills — without the complexity of a major mountain expedition.

Optional kit hire

You do not need a full expedition setup to get started. We can help with key equipment for people trying wild camping before investing in their own system.

  • Shelter systems: Quality mountain tents suitable for UK conditions.
  • Sleep systems: Warm sleeping bag and mat options for overnight comfort.
  • Large packs: Expedition-sized rucksacks where needed.

Hire is arranged separately where required. Regiondo remains the live source for trip dates and base pricing.

The 2-day adventure

Day 1

Into Glen Tilt

We meet, sort group kit and settle into the pace of the trip before heading into Glen Tilt. The first day is about travelling efficiently, managing the pack, learning how the group moves together and choosing a good camp that feels both practical and memorable.

Day 2

Morning camp routine & return journey

After breakfast in camp, we pack down carefully and walk back out through the glen. The second day is a good chance to reinforce camp craft, packing discipline and the quieter skills that make multi-day wild camping feel smooth rather than stressful.
